We at Pearl Dental Clinic use the iTero digital scanning system rather than taking traditional impressions and moulds. The iTero handheld wand takes digital 3D images of your teeth, preventing the need for traditional impressions which can cause some patients to gag.
The iTero scan also allows you to see a FREE previewof your treatment before the case is submitted. Rather than posting impressions to the lab to be scanned which could take weeks, the digital image is electronically sent to the laboratory immediately and is available in the Clincheck system the next day. The accuracy and detail of the iTero digital scans is incredible.
Once the ClinCheck plan is approved by you, Align Technology will then make a series of custom made aligners. Each aligner is slightly different, moving your teeth gradually into the desired position. You wear each aligner for one-two weeks and then move on to the next aligner.
We will see you for a progress review every four to six weeks. Each aligner should be worn for 22 hours a day and only removed to clean teeth or for patients to eat meals. However, you can drink water whilst wearing your aligners. An added benefit of the treatment is that many patients notice weight loss due to restricting meals to a maximum of 2 hours a day.
