Why do dentures break?
Due to the fragile nature of dentures, they can be easily broken if dropped. Many years of daily denture wear and tear may have a negative effect on your dentures, as talking and chewing both exert pressure on them that can ultimately result in them snapping. If your dentures need an urgent repair, please contact us as soon as possible to make an appointment with an emergency dentist.
How does the emergency denture repair process work?
During your consultation visit, we’ll be able to assess the extent of the damage to your denture and discuss the best course of action for you.
Cracked dentures can sometimes be repaired and can typically be bonded back together. Similarly, fractured denture teeth are fairly easy to mend.
Shattered dentures are often problematic to repair, but it is not impossible. You should bring all the pieces of the broken denture to the consultation visit to help us evaluate your options.
With very worn down or very old dentures, it is sometimes better to replace the denture than to repair it. We will discuss all options available to you during your consultation.
If you are thinking of replacing your fractured denture with a new denture, it is a good idea to bring your old denture to the consultation visit. We may be able to repair it for you if you wish and you could even use it as your back-up denture.
