Composite Bonding

As composite bonding is added to repair damage or enhance shape or size, it is matched to the colour of your natural teeth, so does not whiten them. Once it is applied, composite material itself cannot be whitened. If you want to improve the colour of your teeth, we recommend having teeth whitening treatment before your bonding.

Composite bonding lasts on your tooth for around 3-5 years, as long as it is looked after properly. It can be easily repaired or replaced if necessary. To make it last even longer, we use AquaCare air abrasion technology to create an additional very strong mechanical bond between your teeth and your bonding, making it much less likely to debond.

Composite bonding is a completely painless treatment and does not hurt at all. It is non-invasive, as the composite material is built up onto your teeth and doesn’t require any of your natural tooth structure to be removed. We don’t need to use local anaesthetic for the treatment.

Composite bonding can stain, and does tend to have a greater tendency to stain than natural teeth. However, composite stains can be easily polished by your dentist, improving their appearance.
