As well as improving the appearance of your smile, dental veneers can be used for a variety of restorative situations. They can repair damaged teeth, transform the colour of one or more teeth, and conceal imperfections such as gaps, misalignment or stains.

If they break, chip, or get damaged, composite veneers can be very easily repaired in a single short appointment. Other types of veneers can also be repaired, but it is a more involved process and often we will decide to replace the entire veneer instead.

Some types of veneers are reversible. Composite veneers are built up directly onto your tooth, so we can simply remove the composite material to return your tooth to the way it was before treatment. If your teeth have been reduced to accommodate the veneers, you will always need a veneer in place.

The best way to look after your veneers is to keep up with a regular brushing routine at home, using interdental brushes to reach the areas in between your teeth. You should also visit your dentist for regular check-up appointments so they can keep an eye on your veneers.

Veneers are strong and resilient, but they can break or become damaged if they are not treated with care. Try to avoid biting into very hard foods, or using your teeth to open anything, as this could cause unnecessary damage.
