Preparing For Teeth Whitening
It is always advisable to have your teeth deep cleaned by a dentist or dental hygienist before whitening. This is to ensure that any plaque or tartar has been removed. If not this can cause the results to be uneven. Also, if you suffer from sensitive teeth then you may need to take precautions. This is to limit the sensitivity after teeth whitening as the treatment can cause these symptoms to temporarily increase. Although this usually only lasts for twenty-eight to forty-eight hours it is still not pleasant. To prepare, use a desensitising toothpaste for at least two weeks before the treatment. In addition, you may want to rub some onto the teeth and leave overnight. This gives the enamel the opportunity to soak up the desensitising product. Your dentist may also suggest a professional treatment beforehand to desensitise the teeth in preparation.
