Dental sedative can help to provide much-needed support and relief for patients who suffer from fear, anxiety, or phobia relating to the dentist.
Although individuals can feel very alone with this problem it is actually a lot more common than people think. Over a quarter of the UK population suffers from dental anxiety of some kind. Therefore, dentists undergo intensive training and are qualified in sedation techniques to help and support their patients as much as possible. Here at Pearl Dental Clinic, we offer IV sedation to provide deep relaxation for patients so they can receive the care they need without the concern or worry. Many people feel that this is the only way they are able to access treatment.
Dental Sedative – Intravenous
IV sedation is the best and most effective way of inducing a deeply relaxed state. For some extremely anxious patients, milder sedatives do not work as well. However, there are lots of benefits to IV sedation. These include:
- The amount of sedative can be controlled at all times. This is not possible with oral sedatives.
- IV sedation patients are monitored throughout the treatment by a qualified member of staff.
- Patients will not feel any anxiety or stress while under the sedative.
- It is highly unlikely that patients will remember the treatment afterward.
- Patients are fully conscious, unlike with a general anaesthetic. Therefore, the recovery time is nowhere near as long.
If you would like to discuss our IV sedation options further then you can call our friendly reception team on 0208 547 9997. Dental sedation is available for all our general dentistry treatments as well as in emergency dental appointments. In addition to this, IV sedation can be used during cosmetic dentistry appointments if a patient feels it is needed. We look forward to hearing from you in the future, here at Pearl Dental Clinic.

Pearl Dental Clinic is open 7 days a week from 9am to 10pm. You can book an appointment with IV sedation by calling 0208 547 9997 or emailing us or booking an appointment online.
