A Brighton and Hove dental clinic leads the way with plastic cutting initiatives by removing non-biodegradable cups from their surgery. Led by implantologists Dr. Guy Barwell and Dr. Bill Schaeffer at The Implant Clinic, the aim is to raise awareness and offer practical help and support to cut out single-use plastics.
A staggering five hundred billion disposable plastic cups are discarded every year, worldwide. Therefore, it is a problem that affects everyone. With that figure in mind, The Implant Centre team set out to do their bit for the local area. In addition to their own ban on plastic, they are helping others roll out the scheme too. The team are taking to their pedal bikes to deliver compostable cups to clinics in and around Sussex and Kent. Along with this, they are distributing advice and information on how cutting plastic can help the environment. In addition, The Implant Centre has set itself a target of reducing its entire plastic waste, including clinical waste, by up to fifty percent.
