Sonum qualified from King’s College London, in 2013. She subsequently worked as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in various hospitals in the South. During this time, she achieved the Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
She has gained invaluable insight into surgery and management of complex cases in a hospital environment.
Sonum’s passion for Periodontology then led her to complete a three-year formal specialist training programme in Periodontology at the prestigious UCL Eastman Dental Institute in London. She is a member of the European Federation of Periodontology and British Society of Periodontology.
She is enthusiastic about periodontics and believes in treating all patients in a calm, polite and respectful manner.
Her practice is focused primarily on the periodontal health of patients, and she welcomes referrals for all aspects of periodontal treatment including:
- Treatment of all forms of periodontitis (gum disease) including those associated with systemic conditions.
- Non-surgical treatment of peri-implantitis.
- Treatment of non-responsive periodontal defects, furcation involvement, perio-endo lesions and defects following periodontal treatment. In these situations, access surgery, resective surgery or regenerative procedures may be indicated using membranes, bone grafts or enamel matrices.
- Presence of recession defects or mucogingival deformities which are progressing or require cosmetic enhancement and would benefit from periodontal plastic surgery procedures for soft tissue management, e.g. root coverage, increase of keratinised tissues.
- Gummy smile correction and Laser Frenectomy procedures.
- Placement and restoration of Dental implants and Bone grafting.
Sonum is registered with the General Dental Council as a Specialist in Periodontics.
