A growing trend for snacking at work could lead to more people in the UK needing emergency dentistry.
According to a new poll by Wrigley's, 59 per cent of Britons snack six or more times during their working day, FemaleFirst.co.uk reports.
However, they do not brush their teeth afterwards, which could lead to tooth decay and bad breath.
Wrigley's attributed this increase in grazing to longer working hours and shorter lunch breaks, with the traditional three meals a day falling by the wayside as a result.
British Dental Health Foundation chief executive Dr Nigel Carter commented: "When we are grabbing a bite to eat, it is easy to forget that it's still just as important to clean our teeth as we would after eating a meal."
The expert recommended chewing sugar-free gum when getting a toothbrush out is impractical.
Last month, Texan cosmetic dentistry expert Dr Jonathan Golab suggested using a timer if brushing for the recommended two minutes is proving difficult.
