Diamond-studded teeth are one of the biggest trends in parts of India right now – but will the UK follow suit?
According to an article for Daily News & Analysis, professionals in Ahmedabad are increasingly being asked to give people this rather bold and bright fashion statement.
Writer Misbah Nayeem Quadri said the diamonds come is various colours and shapes, and are generally not too expensive.
She also said that the idea could be good for those who have lost teeth, as they can be added to dental implants.
"If you have opted for a tooth implant, you can choose a tooth with a heart-shaped diamond, a diamond star or a square-shaped diamond fixed to it."
Dr Jay Mehta is a dental and laser cosmetic surgeon at the city’s Dental Care and Implant Clinic. He said around 20 patients per month ask for the procedure, which is also popular because it is easily reversed.
A celebrity who has caught on to this trend early is rapper Lil’ Wayne, who is known for his sparkling smile.
