Wearing Invisalign braces over traditional metal varieties could make for better oral health.
This is according to Cavanaugh Orthodontics in the US, which told Valpolife.com that Invisalign braces are completely removable and therefore make it easier for patients to clean their teeth.
Meanwhile, the retainers can also prevent deterioration of the jawbone due to misaligned teeth, which may stop discomfort while chewing.
Finally, the orthodontics company pointed out that having evenly-spaced teeth created by Invisalign braces will prevent stress on the gum line, which can occur when teeth are crowded or spaced too widely apart.
Last month, Align Technology – the manufacturers of Invisalign – said the braces are continuing to be popular, with a 17.2 per cent increase in shipments in the year to September 2010.
The technology may appeal to people who do not want the inconvenience of ordinary metal braces, as well as the discomfort they may cause.
