Dr Caron George is to compete in this Sunday’s (October 18th) half marathon taking place in Cardiff to raise awareness of mouth cancer.
The 24-year-old emergency dentist aims to highlight the work carried out by the Mouth Cancer Foundation and hopes to help raise funds for the charity.
Dr Vinod Joshi, Mouth Cancer Foundation founder, described Caron as an "inspiration" and noted the "tough challenge" of a half marathon would help raise awareness of the plight of sufferers across the UK.
Meanwhile, Nottingham councillor Ginny Klein, chairperson of the Health and Adult Social Care Scrutiny, recently noted that more needs to be done to educate young people about the need for good oral health and the dangers they can face if they do not keep their teeth in top condition.
He noted young people need to visit their dentist more often or face a trip to the emergency dentist should anything bad happen.
