A combination of dental veneers and Invisalign braces has helped one football player to correct his misaligned teeth without missing any games.
Michael Abalos from San Antonio in the US had extremely uneven teeth and a protruding lower jaw, but was worried that treatment would mean years in metal braces, extensive surgery and months away from his semi-professional career.
Fortunately, he sought the help of Dr John Moore, who tried a pioneering combination of dental veneers and Invisalign braces to straighten out the athlete's smile without any need for surgery.
The orthodontist said it was clear that Mr Abalos did not want to compromise his career.
"So I stick him in the veneers, get him into the Invisalign and move the lower teeth in, and boom! The whole thing is over in less than a year," he explained.
Earlier this month, Dr Stephen Grussmark from Miami credited Invisalign with making the correction of a teenage boy's overbite much easier.
