Temporary dentures vs immediate dentures
The terms temporary denture and immediate denture are sometimes used interchangeably, but they describe slightly different things.
Temporary denture: generally, refers to a denture intended to provide a short-term replacement during a particular stage of treatment.
Immediate denture: a denture that is prepared in advance and fitted immediately after planned tooth extraction.
Because your gums and jaw change shape as they heal, however, the fit can change. Your immediate denture will therefore need adjustments, relining or eventually replacing.
Our dentists can explain which type of denture is appropriate for your circumstances and how it fits into your longer-term treatment plan.
