Invisalign braces could help a student land a good job.A student has described how she has had Invisalign braces fitted in a bid to improve her chances of getting a job.

Sara Bartlett is to graduate from a Florida university in December 2010 and told WTSP 10 News that she feels her crooked smile is holding her back.

So, six weeks ago, she sought the help of a cosmetic dentistry expert and had invisible braces put in place.

"First impression is everything. When you smile the first thing they see is your teeth … and if I have straight teeth and a nice smile, I'm going to feel very confident," Ms Bartlett commented.

In September, a survey carried out by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry found that 74 per cent of people believe an imperfect smile could hinder someone's chances of landing a good job.

Some 99.7 per cent of adults said they think a smile is a vital social asset.
