What Is a Permanent Retainer?
A permanent retainer, sometimes called a bonded or fixed retainer, is a thin wire that sits behind your front teeth.
It is glued in place, completely hidden when you smile, and always working in the background.
Its usually placed on the lower front teeth, and in some cases on the top front teeth as well.
The idea is simple: stop teeth from drifting back and relapsing after orthodontic treatment.
