Mickey Rourke will be having cosmetic dentistry as he prepares to take on a new film role, it has been reported.
The Toronto Sun said that the actor is set to play the part of Welsh rugby star Gareth Thomas in an upcoming movie and for the role, he needs to have the correct "gap-toothed" look.
Commenting on the cosmetic dentistry, the newspaper said: "He will remove his capped front incisors to replicate the sports star's gappy smile, which was the result of a particularly nasty onfield tackle."
Thomas is famous for being the first openly gay rugby player in the UK and currently plays as the captain of the Welsh team.
Speaking to the Daily Express, Rourke's agent Emanuele Palladino said that the actor is undergoing the cosmetic dentistry in order to make his portrayal of the sportsman as realistic as possible.
This is not the first time Rourke has played a sports star on the big screen. In 2009 he took on the role of a washed-up wrestler trying to keep his career going in the Oscar-nominated The Wrestler.
