A man who was left in need of emergency dentistry after being hit by a police officer has been awarded compensation.
David Hoffman had been photographing the G20 protests in London in a professional capacity when he moved back and away from a group of protestors.
However, as he prepared to move to a different area, an inspector in full riot gear ran straight towards him.
The riot shield was rammed into Mr Hoffman's face, breaking his teeth and leaving him in need of hospital treatment and emergency dentistry.
The 64-year-old has now been awarded £30,000 in compensation from the Metropolitan Police.
"Fortunately with photographic and film evidence of the incident and detailed testimony, Mr Hoffman has succeeded in holding the police to account," his lawyer Chez Cotton remarked.
Last month, Rosslyn Lee of Hamilton in Lanarkshire was also left in need of cosmetic dentistry after she was attacked by a gang of youths and had a brick thrown in her face.
