Patients with misaligned teeth have been told it's never too late to have cosmetic dentistry to straighten them.
Dr Tim Bradstock-Smith told Dentistry.co.uk that while it is best to have this work done during the teenage years, there are now lots of options available for adults too, including invisible braces.
Wearing a retainer for life may also help to prevent further movement in both people who have had cosmetic dentistry and those who already have a great smile, the expert said.
Finally, Dr Bradstock-Smith recommended using a mouth guard at night if you know you grind your teeth as you sleep, as this could prevent damage to the teeth and jaws.
Lon's Article Directory recently said that now could be the perfect time to get invisible braces, as they have shaken off their previous negative image to become almost trendy.
However, they will also provide a safe and natural way to move teeth into position, it added.
