A dental specialist has advised anyone thinking of having invisible braces fitted as adults that it will be worth the effort once the teeth are in their intended position.
Robert Williams, an orthodontist who teaches at the University of Maryland in the US, told NPR.com he often fits braces to people who are no longer in the first flush of youth.
“Some of my patients are in their 60s and 70s. It’s never too late,” he insisted.
According to a recent poll by the American Association of Orthodontists, one in five new patients for cosmetic dentistry is an adult.
Earlier this month, Denise Calaman, a writer for the lifestyle website Helium, said invisible braces are sure to make a big improvement on the smiles of people who have struggled with misaligned teeth.
She said she recently had orthodontic treatment and it helped with her self-esteem, but warned patients not to expect miracles.
