Dr Beth Snyder, a dentist from the US, has said the treatment will help realign teeth over a number of months, by gradually applying pressure and moving them into a straighter position.
Cases can often be completed in 12 to 18 months of use and the device has the added advantage of being removable. Therefore, when people wish to eat, brush their teeth or go out on the town, they do not have to wear it.
Meanwhile, figures from the Hospital Group recently showed that more men are becoming interested in the benefits offered by Invisalign braces, with a 700 per cent rise in the number of Invisalign procedures carried out between 2007 and 2009 in the UK.
During this period, the number of women using the product also rose by 52 per cent.
