An Inverness dentist has won an award.
A dentist from Inverness has been recognised with an award for outstanding achievement in his field.
Andrew Young BDS received the T C White prize for outstanding achievement in the Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons’ examinations from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
He saw off competition from 130 other dental professionals to achieve the award and noted his aim is now to advance his knlowledge and skills as a member of the college in the future.
Mr Young commented: “I am very flattered to receive such an accolade and to have my efforts recognised in this way.”
Elsewhere, Jocelyne Aldridge, policy officer and widening participation lead at the Medical Schools Council, recently noted there remain a number of barriers that are stopping talented young individuals from entering the medical profession.
She stated financial issues continue to block the progress of individuals from poorer backgrounds, with just 1.7 per cent of medical school graduates from these areas.
