A groom underwent cosmetic dentistry so he could tie the knot with the woman of his dreams.
When Gordon Taylor asked his sweetheart’s father for her hand in marriage, he was told he could – as long as he fixed his teeth, reported the Metro.
Sarah Lewis’s dad – Dr Philip Lewis – is a dentist and told the newspaper he could not bear the thought of his daughter walking down the aisle with a man with less-than-perfect gnashers.
The oral health expert was quoted as saying: "Your smile is one of the first things people notice about you and if there’s a day in your life you want your smile to look its best, it’s your wedding day."
Mr Taylor received teeth whitening, as well as getting his gnashers straightened.
His future bride told the Metro she was delighted with the outcome. She added she would love him regardless of his smile, but the finished look would please their family and friends.
A Markets & Markets report recently predicted the oral health sector will be worth $26 billion (£16 billion) by 2014 – fuelled in part by a greater demand for cosmetic dentistry.
