People who take care of their teeth in a bid to prevent emergency dentistry could be helped by the launch of a new glossary.
The British Dental Health Foundation (BDHF) has announced plans to publish an online guide to inform the public of the most effective ingredients in dental products.
With 72 per cent of people stating that they do not believe the claims made on some product packaging, the glossary aims to act as a point of reference for those wishing to maintain good oral health.
Chief executive of the BDHF Dr Nigel Carter said: "We hope our new glossary of common ingredients will help more people to make an informed choice about which products to buy and how it can help their oral health."
The organisation recommends that people brush their teeth twice a day with a toothpaste containing fluoride, which assists in reducing tooth decay in adults and children.
