A boxer’s father might have needed a visit to the London emergency dentist after a training session.
Nathan Cleverly is up against British and Commonwealth light-heavyweight champion Courtney Fry today (October 9th).
In an interview with the Sun, the boxer explained he often trains with his father.
The 22-year-old said he does not let the fact he is sparring with his dad hold him back.
"I go for it and he likes to feel my power," he was quoted in the newspaper as saying.
The Welshman added: "I once knocked out dad’s front teeth with a right hand – but he doesn’t mind being hurt by me. It’s in a good cause after all."
Wearing a gum shield could reduce the risk of such accidents occurring – and avoid a trip to the London emergency dentist.
Another person who has been in the news this week for a gappy smile is Shaun Ryder.
The Happy Mondays front-man told a crowd at a recent gig that one of his dental implants had fallen out.
