A dentist has spoken out to dispel some of the common myths surrounding dental implants that might be putting patients off having them.
Dr Amarik Singh, who has a practice in Chicago and has put in more than 6,000 implants during his career, told Health News that many people mistakenly think they will be painful or very expensive.
He also said some patients opt not to have the procedure because they think it is too new, when the reality is that over 40 years' experience has gone into perfecting it.
"With state-of-the-art computer imaging and other sophisticated tools currently in our possession, we get the dental implants done in a day without even cutting open the gums," Dr Singh pointed out.
This comes after dentist Dr John Miller told the Dothan Eagle that dental implants are far superior to dentures and are the closest thing patients can get to real teeth.
