People considering cosmetic dentistry could be interested to hear a bright smile has topped the list of attractive physical features.
The British Dental Health Foundation (BDHF) survey revealed that 56 per cent of participants found smiles were the most pleasing attribute – which could be a reason to try London teeth whitening.
Published as part of this year's National Smile Month, the results aim to remind people that taking care of teeth and gums is an important part of everyday life.
Findings also revealed 37 per cent of people were unhappy with stains or miscolouring on their teeth, with only 23 per cent believing the nation has good teeth.
Chief executive of the BDHF, Dr Nigel Carter, said: "The survey is a great reminder that we should be giving greater attention to our teeth – not just because it improves oral health – but because it gives us the confidence to smile."
Meanwhile, advise website for 11 to 26-year-olds YoungScot recommends people should brush their teeth regularly to keep fresh breath and a bright white smile.
People are also advised to brush in a light circular motion to protect the gums and ensure even coverage.
