How are overdentures provided?
At Pearl Dental Clinic, we tailor every overdenture treatment to your unique oral anatomy and long-term goals. Following an advanced assessment, we will recommend one of two clinical pathways:
1. Implant-supported overdentures
This is the most common and stable path. We place a small number of titanium dental implants (usually 2 to 4) into your jawbone. Once integrated, specialised connectors (implant abutments) are attached to the implants. The underside of your custom-made denture is fitted with corresponding attachments, allowing it to snap tightly into place. This option also stimulates your jawbone, helping to preserve your natural facial structure and prevent bone loss over time.
2. Tooth-supported overdentures
If you still have some healthy, strong natural teeth remaining, we can often preserve them to serve as anchor points. We carefully prepare these teeth and fit them with low-profile protective caps. Your overdenture is then custom-crafted to fit securely over these teeth, preserving your natural root structures and maintaining your jaw’s natural chewing action.
