How do dental implants work?
1. Consultation
We begin your implant treatment with a full and detailed consultation. We assess your teeth and gums, and take X-rays to see inside your gum and ensure you are suitable for implants. We discuss the treatment process with you and give you the chance to ask any questions.
2. Planning
We use innovative digital technology and techniques to precisely plan your treatment, including the precise positions in your jawbone for your dental implants to be inserted to ensure maximum success. In most cases, we don’t need to use an implant for each missing tooth. If we have identified that you need a bone graft, sinus lift, or other advanced procedure, we arrange your appointment for this.
3. Implant surgery
During a relatively short surgical appointment, we place your titanium implants in your jawbone. We use local anaesthetic to ensure you remain comfortable throughout, and do offer sedation to help you feel more at ease if you need it.
4. Healing
Your dental implants need several months to heal and fuse with the surrounding jawbone before your final replacement teeth can be fitted. We place a temporary restoration to protect your gum and keep you smiling during the healing process.
5. A new smile
When your dental implant has fully integrated with your jawbone, we take digital scans and images to create your bespoke new teeth. When ready, we fit these in place and complete your new smile. We give you some advice on how to look after your dental implants and leave you to enjoy smiling with confidence!
