An oral surgery miracle for a Haitian boy has been reported by Fox News this week. The nine year old boy, John Olivier (also known as ‘Little John’), was suffering from a tumour. This not only caused facial disfigurement but was life-threatening. However, up until this point, his family had spent all their money trying to get John treatment to fix the problem, to no avail.
Little John was first spotted by a Colorado missionary, Barclay Stuart, who put the family in touch with the renowned oral surgeon Dr. Stuart Lieblich. Due to a huge fundraising campaign, the boy was able to be flown to the United States where he received the treatment. This was completed by the surgical team completely free of charge.
The surgery consisted of the removal of a large part of the boy’s jaw. Following this, the bone was reconstructed. A further treatment is planned for when little John is older for the addition of dental implants. Dr. Lieblich was quoted as saying “I am very privileged to be part of his story. This was a situation that could not be treated in Haiti.”
