According to the Daily Mail, US actor Shia LaBeouf has taken method acting a step further and decided to pull out one of his teeth to stay in character for his latest film Fury. LaBeouf plays an American soldier in the World War 2 epic, and apparently he is determined to live the experience as authentically as possible.
The 27-year-old’s method acting has alienated him from the rest of the cast – which includes Brad Pitt – and he has found himself in a bed-and-breakfast away from the other actors, thanks to his antics on set. A source told Mailonline that Shia had been warned about his behaviour by fellow actors and even the film’s director David Ayer, but he failed to show improvement and was removed from the hotel where his cast mates were staying.
The source explained ‘Shia drove everyone mad on set trying to prove that he was the most dedicated star. He pulled out his own tooth during the first few weeks of filming and then refused to shower for weeks on end so he could better understand how his character would have felt living in the trenches.’
This follows on from other controversies surrounding the younger actor; he was recently embroiled in a plagiarism scandal after he admitted stealing much of the plot for his graphic novel from screenwriter Daniel Clowes. LaBeouf made a formal admission and apology to the author via social media site Twitter.
