He is probably better known for his comedy roles on television, in such TV shows as Little Britain, and also for his charity work that included swimming the channel in 2006, but now comedian David Walliams has turned his hand to writing; his first children’s book Demon Dentist will hit the shelves in September this year.

According to Walliams, the story is a horror-comedy that features a ‘drilling-crazed villain with an over-the-top devotion to teeth extractions.’ Although some parents might be uneasy about the characters motives – it’s no mean feat to get a nervous child to sit in the dentist’s chair as it is! – Walliams is assured that the horror/comedy will be a hit with all age-groups; he says ‘Demon Dentist is my very first horror story, with an unspeakably evil villainess at its centre. I hope children of all ages will love the new book’s combination of chills, action, and of course comedy.’

Publisher Ann-Janine Murtagh described the novel as ‘gloriously original and flamboyantly dark’ adding that ‘David’s imaginative flair takes the readers on an epic adventure with a super-villain so rotten, fans will be hooked from page one.’

The comedian’s previous work Gangsta Granny is currently being adapted into a TV show, which is scheduled for broadcast later this year.
