The employees of a supermarket in South Africa have been told that they must have cosmetic dentistry if their front teeth are missing.
Staff at Shoprite Checkers in Seaside Village, Bloubergstrand, were informed this week that they will be required to have a full set of teeth or must be able to provide proof that they are to get dental implants or other treatments soon to rectify gaps.
If they cannot do this, they will be asked to leave the premises.
One employee, who did not want to be named, told the country's News 24 that it had caught them all a little off guard.
"We think some of the people who came shopping complained about the way in which some people speak," she added, suggesting that customers had not been able to tell what some staff had said in response to their questions.
Dental implants could be ideal to replace missing front teeth, as US dentist Dr Yoli DiGiulio recently said patients may need just one set in a lifetime if they are fitted correctly.
