A man has undergone root canal treatment after his teeth became so infected they began to disfigure his face.
Bryan Sampson from Greely, Ontario, underwent the first of six root canal treatments to prevent the rot in his teeth from getting worse, reports CBC.
Mr Sampson, who does not have a dental plan, was given assistance for the emergency dentistry treatment after viewer Vincent MacDonell saw his story on a CBC broadcast and put him in touch with dental surgeon Dr Ben Fong, who agreed to waive his fees.
Mr Samson said he would not have been able to afford surgery without help because he earns $12.50 an hour and has to spend half of his salary on child support payments for his two children.
"I won't have to worry about the puffing of my face, and I can actually smile and show my teeth to people," he said.
Dentist Dr Dwight Jones recently urged parents to ensure they look after their children's teeth in order to avoid the possibility of requiring emergency dentistry treatments.
