Parents have been advised to ensure that their children brush their teeth correctly to prevent the need for emergency dentistry.
Julie Delbridge, a registered dental hygienist, told pennlive.com that even if kids appear to be able to handle brushing on their own, it is important that their parents still stay involved.
She added that youngsters do not have the dexterity to be able to floss on their own, so will require some assistance.
In addition, snacks need to be monitored, with dentist Dr Dwight Ashby stated that eating in the evening creates a lot of issues.
"One of best ways to not give me your business is to be very strict with the diet 45 minutes before bed," Dr Ashby stated.
People needing advice on the correct way to brush have been recommended by Colgate to tilt the bristles to a 45 degree angle against the gumline and roll the brush away.
