Molars may be the teeth most likely to need emergency dentistry unless people take measures to look after them properly.
This is according to dentist Dr Charles Ferber, who told the Daily Mail that they are the most often filled teeth in people's mouths because they are large and harder to reach than the others.
Everyone has four molars, with two at the top and two at the bottom and Dr Ferber explained that it is the top ones that are most vulnerable.
"It's a problem for upper molars because salivary ducts in the cheek next to them produce saliva and this causes plaque to harden," he added.
To avoid needing emergency dentistry, Colgate recommends cleaning the outer surfaces of the upper and lower teeth first, before going on to meticulously brush the inner surfaces and chewing areas.
This should take at least 120 seconds in order to be most effective.
