A city worker has claimed that she found a large animal tooth in her lunch after she tucked into her Waitrose lasagne. Arabella Frankel, 32, said that she took a bite of her readymade meal and made a ‘grim’ discovery – a large tooth about one and a half centimetres in length.
Arabella told the Express that is was ‘a fang’ complete with a root and said that it gives her ‘the shudders’ just to think about it. After speaking to a dentist about it she added that ‘it looks like a rat’s tooth’. Arabella went on to say that there must be rats in the factory if their fangs are making their way into processed products like the lasagne, she also described it as a ‘really bad choking hazard’ as she could have swallowed the tooth after biting into the food.
The experience has put her off eating lasagne now and the supermarket have yet to compensate her for the ‘disgusting’ discovery – she has not even been offered a refund for the purchase. A spokesperson for the company said that they are taking the complaint seriously and apologised for Arabella’s experience. They added ‘the quality and safety of our products is our top priority and our ready meal suppliers have very strict processes to prevent materials which shouldn’t be there getting into food – so we are mystified how this could have happened.’
