Individuals hoping to prevent emergency dentistry have been urged to pamper their teeth in a bid to maintain good oral health.

According to the British Dental Health Foundation (BDHF), health-conscious people should spend as much money on their dental care as they do on other luxuries.

The advice, which comes as part of the organisation’s ten point plan, was released to mark the end of this year’s National Smile Month campaign.

Dental patients have also been urged to make changes to their overall lifestyles to prevent the development of oral health issues and reduce the need to see an emergency dentist.

Dr Nigel Carter, chief executive of the BDHF, said: “[These] tips will not only give you good all-round oral health, they will give you a renewed energy and the confidence to portray your smile on a daily basis.”

The National Smile Month scheme, which ended on Wednesday (June 15th), aimed to increase the public’s knowledge and understanding of the importance of oral hygiene.
