Emergency dentistry news: Parents urged to prevent tooth decay in childrenParents have been urged to ensure their children maintain good oral health in a bid to reduce the chances of needing emergency dentistry.

As soon as a baby's teeth begin to emerge, brushing them with a children's toothbrush and water could help reduce the risk of decay, 95th Medical Group reports.

Fluoride toothpaste can be used in small amounts when brushing the teeth of children aged over two years old.

According to the organisation, establishing good brushing and flossing habits early on in a child's development is important for lifelong oral hygiene.

The American Dental Association advices parents to take their children to regular check-ups from an early age to avoid needing emergency dentistry in the future.

Doing so will prevent the development of problems with teeth and gums, as well as reduce any fears the child may feel about going to the dentist.

The organisation also recommends rubbing a child's gum with a clean finger to soothe painful teething problems babies may experience.ADNFCR-2621-ID-800520897-ADNFCR
