What are fixed braces and how do they work?
Fixed braces are a highly effective and time-tested orthodontic treatment used to correct a variety of dental alignment issues, from overcrowding and gaps to complex bite problems. Unlike removable aligners, fixed braces are securely attached to your teeth and work continuously to guide them into their ideal positions.
The magic behind fixed braces lies in their simple yet ingenious design. They consist of small brackets, typically made of metal or ceramic, that are bonded to the front (or sometimes back) of your teeth. A thin archwire connects these brackets. This wire applies constant, gentle pressure, gradually moving your teeth over time. During your regular appointments with your orthodontist, the wire is meticulously adjusted and tightened, increasing the pressure and encouraging further tooth movement. This continuous, controlled force is what makes fixed braces incredibly effective in achieving precise and predictable results.
