Six Month Smiles

Six Month Smiles

Adult patients worried about the stigma attached to wearing train track dental braces during adulthood can now benefit from the six month smiles programme.

This corrective process significantly reduces treatment time by utilising natural-looking braces to gently re-align teeth over a six month period.

The procedure concentrates on areas of the mouth that are visible when smiling, to perform a transformation for people who experience low self-esteem as a result of crooked or misaligned teeth.

Six month smiles can be used to treat a wide variety of orthodontic problems, including crowding, crossbites, overbites and gaps between teeth.

What are the benefits of six-month smiles?

The discreet wires used to create the corrective fixture provide an aesthetic solution for individuals concerned about the appearance of metal braces. In addition, the gentle nature of the procedure means there will be little pain or discomfort for the duration of the treatment time.

Six month smiles are only visible to the naked eye when close up, which means image-conscious individuals can rest assured that their teeth alignment will be improved in a limited space of time and they do not have to worry about the appearance of their smiles throughout the process.

Additionally, the fast-paced nature of the treatment means that individuals could see results almost immediately, with the specialised braces reducing the treatment time by up to 75 per cent.

What does the Six month Smiles treatment involve?

The six months smile programme uses advanced technology to move teeth in a manner that is both quick and safe, focusing on moving the teeth that show during a smile, rather than the overall mouth. Specialised nickel titanium wires are used to carry out the procedure.

Your dentist will begin the treatment by conducting thorough checks on the teeth, using an extensive range of X-rays and photographs to make sure the teeth being moved are all clinically sound for movement.

Patients are advised to converse with their dental professional about the improvements they would like to achieve during the treatment and to ensure the treatment is right for them.

Those who do not qualify to receive the six month smiles braces could be offered a range of alternative dental treatments to help them achieve their ideal smile. These procedures could include Invisalign or Clearstep braces.

Following this, patients will be fitted with their six month smiles, which are small and white brackets and specially adapted wires that are transported from the product’s laboratory in the US.

If required your dentist will remove small amounts of enamel from in-between your teeth where overcrowding occurs to create space. Also, some patients with more severe crowding problems can have teeth removed to ensure optimum results.

After the fitting, patients will be asked to make appointments with their dentist every four to five weeks to allow the brace to be adjusted in a bid to move the teeth into their ideal position.

Where did the treatment come from?

Although the procedure is fairly new to dental practises in the UK, US professionals have been using the corrective system to transform patients’ smiles for some time. During this period, hundreds of individuals have been provided with six month smiles with amazing success.

Will the treatment hurt?

Similarly to other forms of cosmetic dentistry, patients could feel some discomfort when the brace is initially installed. The gentle force used to correct the smile means the teeth are able to move slowly, which is unlikely to cause any pain for individuals.

Your dentist may recommend the use of over-the-counter painkillers to ease any mild discomfort felt during the initial stages of the corrective process.

During the first week or so after the fixture of the six month smiles braces, patients may find it more difficult to speak and salivate a little more than usual. This normally occurs while the mouth gets used to the foreign object and should not affect individuals for more than a couple of days.

What happens after the six month smiles are removed?

Following the completion of the six month period, patients will be asked to wear a retainer for several months to reduce the risk of relapse. This is due to the teeth’s natural tendency to move back to their previous position.

Your Pearl Dental Clinic practitioner can fit a permanent bonded retainer on the back surfaces of the teeth to ensure the best results. Alternatively, a night-time removable appliance can be chosen by people who are excited to show off their smile transformation.

Are there any alternatives to Six Month Smiles?

Damon braces are an ideal solution for young people suffering from low self-esteem as a result of misaligned teeth. During this process, low-friction mechanics are used to create a fast orthodontic fixture to gently straighten problem areas.

Invisalign can be used as an alternative to dental braces for a quick-fix solution to what may have been a long-term issue.

A guide to Six-Month Smiles One of the main factors holding individuals back from seeking orthodontic treatment is the stigma that previously surrounded wearing traditional braces for a long period of time – particularly for adults who may be nervous about speaking in public. But now, the emergence of a wide variety of procedures that can result in a brighter, more attractive smile have made it possible for those people who have suffered low self-esteem due to their appearance to enjoy aesthetically-pleasing pearly whites. While severe cases of misalignment may require traditional straightening methods, those with minor issues are able to take advantage of the six-month smile system, which is ideal for members of the public looking for a quick-fix. What issues can this course of action resolve? There are a number of problems the six-month smile programme is usually used to resolve, including: Crowding, overbite, underbite, spacing, crossbite, openbite and a misplaced midline. What are the main benefits of six-month smiles? The discreet nature of the braces – achieved due to their small, tooth-coloured features – means they are almost completely unnoticeable to other people, which is an advantage for those who may be worried about their appearance while undergoing treatment. Additionally, a high number of people are attracted to this course of action due to the significantly reduced treatment time – representing a 75 per cent shorter timeframe – providing another benefit for those with a busy, on-the-go lifestyle. Because the teeth are repositioned in a gentle manner, individuals are unlikely to experience any pain or discomfort for the duration of this process, meaning they are able to enjoy the fantastic results with little or no drawbacks. The current economic conditions have resulted in some people being less able to afford expensive cosmetic dentistry, but six-month smiles are usually more cost-effective than alternative treatments, making them the ideal solution for anyone looking to improve their quality of life. What does this process entail? Using tooth-coloured braces, the six-month smile process gently pushes the pearly whites into place in an average treatment time of only six months, which is considerably less than older techniques that often take around two to three years to complete. Focusing on those pearly whites that show when individuals smile means this course of action is less intrusive than others that achieve a similar goal, therefore creating a major cosmetic impact while only making minor changes to the teeth. What happens during the initial procedure? Initially, patients interested in receiving this treatment should attend an introductory appointment with their dental professional. This will allow them to discuss what the treatment is likely to entail, how much it will cost and if there is anything they should be aware of. Additionally, this visit is the ideal time for the practitioner to thoroughly check the pearly whites with both X-rays and photographs, which allow the dentist to decide if the six-month smile system will be effective. In cases when this is not appropriate, patients should not be too worried as it is likely their dental professional will recommend alternative treatments that will have the same impact on the teeth, simply in a different manner. Those who are deemed to be suitable candidates for the procedure will then find the next step is the actual installation of the fixtures. In some instances, the spaces between the teeth will be polished or a single pearly white will be removed in order to create enough space to relieve crowding in the mouth. Why is this treatment so much faster? As part of this procedure, dental professionals use the latest technology and techniques to move the pearly whites in a manner that is both speedy and safe. By focusing on pushing teeth that show during a smile, practitioners are able to utilise nickel titanium wires to achieve this. Is this a new type of treatment? Although the six-month smile system is relatively new to the UK, it was initially developed around 20 years ago in the US by a dentist called Dr Swain. One of the main reasons it was created was due to the high number of individuals who were unable to afford orthodontic work, while others were simply put off by the appearance of the devices that were traditionally used. What happens if I do not qualify for this procedure? Although it may seem like an attractive option for individuals looking to make improvements to the alignment of their smile, this system is unfortunately not suited to everyone. The main reason for this is the fact it concentrates on making only minor changes to the visible areas of the mouth, so those who require major orthodontic treatment may be better suited to a long-term option that operates in a different manner. Individuals who are in this situation are urged not to worry, their dental professional will make sure a solution can be achieved with the use of alternative procedures that – although they may take longer – will obtain the same results. What are the main alternatives to this course of action? The evolving world of cosmetic dentistry means there is a wide choice of options when it comes to making changes to the appearance of the teeth, which is a problem that may have affected an individual’s quality of life since an early age. Options such as the Inman Aligner and the Damon System are also fast and effective methods of adjusting the teeth, with patients recommended to ask their dentist about these procedures during their next visit. Although it may be reasonable to think that all people can benefit from the same methods of treatment, the intricate layout of the mouth means no two members of the public are the same, so dentists are usually the only ones who can identify a viable and effective course of action.

Both my Wife and I had the invisalign treatment. Our consultations were clear and detailed and everything was explained to us. Within 2 weeks we had our aligners and we stuck to the plan rigidly. As well as the aligners I had to also have a baby tooth removed and have it replaced with a bridge. Both our treatments are complete now and we are delighted with the results. Our Dentist, Mohsen Tehranian was extremely good throughout the process. He was always available when we needed him and answered any questions we had along the way. The results we have achieved from the treatment far exceeded our expectations.

I'm delighted with how much better my teeth look after just a year with Invisalign. The aligners really do all that's claimed and I started to see the difference after only a few months. Mohsen Tehranian was incredibly helpful througout the treatment and gave me a clear idea of what to expect. When the odd query arose outside of normal appointment times, Mohsen was always available via email and responded the same day. Not only do my teeth look much better, they actually feel more comfortable and my bite has improved too, which makes me feel more confident all round. I have already recommended Invisalign treatment to several of my friends.

I'm delighted with the outcome of my invisalign work. I had been considering having work done for a while but had been slightly nervous about commiting to it.

What sets Mohsen Tehranian apart is not his technical knowledge of the invisalign approach (which he clearly has), but it is his very calm and reassuring approach. He is always happy to answer questions and provide advice. He is very clear in how he explains each stage of the treatment and what you can expect to happen at each of these stages.

I would definitely recommend the invisalign treatment - it really does work. If you are having the work done, I have no hesitation in recommending Mohsen Tehranian - its important to have someone that you trust to undertake something that has such an impact on your appearance, and that is somethign that I had with him.

I spent a long time researching veneers because I was so unhappy with my front teeth, until the day I booked an appointment to see Dr. Mohsen Tehranian. He was extremely professional and recommended I go for something called Invisalign as my teeth were still in very healthy condition they just needed to be straightened.

I am so grateful for his advice, he was the only dentist that was not happy for me to go for veneers because he believed there was a far better solution for me plus this would mean I would keep my own teeth. I would most certainly recommend anyone researching or even just thinking about Invisalign to go and have a chat with Dr Mohsen Tehranian at Pearl Dental Clinic, he most certainly helped me and all the staff in the practice are ever so friendly. I have now completed the full set, my teeth are straight and I have so much more confidence all thanks to Mohsen!!!

I am currently half way through Invisalign and have been so impressed with the high level of care, treatment and professionalism by Dr Ehsan Esfahani and his team. After several years of being unhappy with my smile finally decided to do something about it and spent a month researching options on the internet.

I do not live locally but the price for treatment at the practice was very reasonable and after meeting Dr Ehsan felt reassured of the choice I was making. I even had an old filling replaced to a new white one ? the new look was amazing and experienced no discomfort!

My only regret was not doing this sooner and to anyone reading this I can thoroughly recommend Pearl Dental Clinic.
