Having cosmetic dentistry by getting a clear brace fitted can allow people to get the smile they always wanted.
This is the view of Dr Tony Coughlan, an orthodontist working in Dublin who was responding to a 45-year-old’s letter into the Irish Times about fixing their crooked teeth.
According to the oral health professional, orthodontic treatments can be carried out at any age and are not just for children and adolescents.
Not only can this sort of procedure improve the health of teeth and gums, it can also help self-esteem and appearance, he added.
Clear braces can be an attractive option as they are less visible and Dr Coughlan pointed out the brackets used are much smaller than they were ten or 20 years ago.
"The majority of people who are conscious about their crooked teeth and have them realigned are very happy with the cosmetic outcome," he said.
In other news, a prisoner has made headlines this week for his set of gnashers.
Dale Lee, who was arrested for assault, has been nicknamed Dracula by the media because of the appearance of his teeth.
