Sports drinks could result in trip to emergency dentistSportspeople could be risking a visit to the emergency dentist by consuming a particular snack to keep them going on the run.

Energy drinks and bars are often eaten by athletes, but a professional triathlete discussed in an article on Msnbc how she had to change her diatery habits.

Courtenay Brown from Seattle explained her dentist pointed out her mouth was a breeding ground for bacteria because of the sugary snacks she consumed when training.

The 30-year-old’s weak enamel meant this posed an even bigger risk to her oral health.

As it is not possible for her to floss while riding a bike, Ms Brown’s dentist recommended she drank clear fluids in-between sports drinks and bars.

"Now I make sure to drink water after I have a carbohydrate sports drink or eat a bar," the triathlete was quoted as saying.

"I rinse with water and stay aware of it and brush before and after riding – and my teeth are definitely better."

People who train in England’s capital city might want to ensure they take extra care over their teeth to avoid having to make an appointment with an emergency dentist in London.ADNFCR-2621-ID-19357911-ADNFCR
