The British Orthodontic Society (BOS) reports that they have seen a sudden rise in adult orthodontic treatments. Around three-quarters of their registered practitioners say they have seen more adults undergoing treatments than ever before.
Many people think of braces just being for teenagers, however, now that is certainly not the case. Celebrity endorsements and social media posts have influenced people to think about their appearance. The smile is one of the first things a person notices about another. Therefore, it stands to reason that people would want straight teeth. And with so many discreet options for teeth straightening it has never been a better time.
The BOS also reports that an increasing number of men are undergoing teeth straightening treatments too. Although it is predominantly females that seek out the treatment, men make up for twenty percent of adult cases that are seen. The NHS does not typically fund adult orthodontic work unless there is a medical need. Therefore, more and more people are choosing to pay privately for treatment to get the straight smile they have always wanted.
