A mobile dental bus providing dentistry for the homeless has been set up in Winchester and Andover. Dentaid operates and manages the bus. Dentaid is a charity synonymous with providing dental care to the poorest and most vulnerable members of society. Therefore, they do vital work at home and abroad.
A substantial donation, gifted by Simplyhealth, will mean that the charity can reach more people in need. With this money, the bus is able to visit the homeless charity Trinity Winchester once a month. The project aims to provide dentistry to the city’s homeless and rough sleeper community. Not only will this help to keep people healthy but it can also help to raise self-esteem and confidence.
Clinical director at Simplyhealth, Catherine Rutland, was also quoted as saying. “People who are homeless will find maintaining good oral health difficult, which can lead to dental problems. By providing the opportunity through Dentaid for both immediate dental care and subsequent follow-up appointments and monitoring, we can help the overall wellbeing of homeless patients.”
