Brushing three times a day could lower the risk of heart failure according to a large scale study performed in South Korea. They found that brushing three times a day can reduce bacteria build-up in the body. The study was performed on one hundred and sixty-one thousand people over a ten year period. People of all ages, genders, sizes, and backgrounds took part. Over the time of the study, those who brushed the extra time per day were found to have a twelve percent lower risk of developing heart failure. Additionally, the chance of atrial fibrillation was reduced by ten percent.
There have also been other studies that show a link between poor dental health and heart problems. These showed that increased bacteria in the blood can cause inflammation throughout the body. Because of this, it makes it harder for the heart to pump blood effectively.
