People are going to their dentist to have their teeth whitened in order to make their smile more dazzling, it has been claimed.
Lygia Jolley, a registered dental hygienist who teaches at San Joaquin Valley College, said there are a number of ways to achieve the same white results. There are now take-home treatments available, but for the best results people should book an appointment with their dentist to perform the procedure.
He noted that teeth whitening is one of the most popular treatments for patients at present.
"It cleans off the exterior level of the teeth. It does not weaken the enamel at all, it just tends to clean out the pores of the teeth," Mr Jolley commented.
Meanwhile, the Better Business Bureau recently highlighted a scam whereby patients looking for London teeth whitening believed they were signing up for a free treatment.
However, having already given their credit or debit card details, many were charged before the end of their treatment, while others were charged from the beginning of the process.
