The Dentistry 2009 conference was this week (November 9th to 12th) held in Abu Dhabi where a range of new innovations in the field of dental medicine were showcased.
A wide range of technologies were on display at the event, ranging from imaging software, impression materials, hand instruments and implant systems.
Dr Asmat Lone, chairman of the Advisory Committee of Dentistry 2009, commented in the event’s inaugral speech: "Not only must treatment be of a world-class standard but it must be delivered in a safe and friendly environment in order for patients to feel as comfortable as possible during their treatment."
Elsewhere, Researchers from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bristol and Bristol Dental School recently unveiled a new robot which has been constructed to help dental researchers test new materials for dentures, dental implants and dental veneers.
The device is able to replicate the wear and tear which these materials undergo over a three-year period in a matter of days, speeding up the testing process.
