A cosmetic dentistry patient has said he is glad he finally plucked up the courage to get braces, because it was nowhere near as bad as he thought.
Kevin Tetter, writing for Helium, said he had put up with a lifetime of crooked teeth, but decided to do something about it in his 40s.
He said he was shocked to find his uneven smile could be corrected in less than 18 months.
“After a while I even started to show off the braces. And why not? This was a good thing and I was very happy about it,” Mr Tetter commented.
He also said he was pleased to discover his work colleagues did not tease him about his cosmetic dentistry, but were instead very supportive.
People whose teeth are not as misaligned as Mr Tetter’s may be able to have Invisalign braces, which are less obtrusive and more comfortable.
Family Gentle Dental Care in Nebraska recommended this form of treatment, although it acknowledges it may take slightly longer for adults than for children.
