Booking a dental appointment before going on holiday could prevent problems occurring while people are away, according to one expert.
Dr Nigel Carter, chief executive of the British Dental Health Foundation, has warned individuals to ensure they have their teeth checked before they go abroad to prevent the need for emergency dentistry.
He warned that treatments in foreign countries could be expensive and of variable quality, therefore it is wiser to see a dentist prior to a trip.
“Although dental emergencies can develop at anytime, it can be a draining experience and ruin your plans if they occur during a holiday,” Dr Carter stated.
The specialist said it was “better to be safe than sorry” and rule out any potential issues before they arise.
A study by the University of Copenhagen recently revealed that eating foods in the middle of the night can increase the risk of tooth damage, the BBC reported.
